Introduction to Geocaching, in the Great Swamp

Geocaching, a global game of treasure hunting using longitude and latitude  coordinates, is a fun-filled adventure for all ages. With a GPS receiver, and Internet  access, you are  ready to explore and search for a geocache. Join the Great Swamp Watershed Association (GSWA) and the Northern New Jersey Cachers (NNJC) on Sunday, April 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we present a special introductory geocaching workshop. This workshop will familiarize participants with geocaching basics, and is a great chance to learn and experience this growing family-oriented, eco-friendly sport. You’ll learn about the equipment and all the different types of caches you can find. Experience the thrill of the hunt, and the fulfillment that comes from discovering countless locations of natural beauty and historical interest that you have never seen before!

Space is limited, so register early! This workshop will take place at GSWA's own little corner of the Great Swamp--our Conservation Management Area located at 1 Tiger Lily Lane in Morristown, NJ! Things can get wet and muddy there, so please were appropriate clothing and shoes. A reusable water bottle is not a bad idea either.

GSWA's environmental and outdoor education events focus on issues of sustainability, land & water conservation, and outdoor recreation. Our staff, volunteer presenters, and guest presenters are all knowledgeable about the Great Swamp and eco-friendly  practices, so feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Event dates, times, and locations vary, so please remember to pre-register online to get everything you need to attend. Almost all education events include an outdoor component, so remember to dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy, outdoor shoes. We will try to let you know if you might get wet or muddy.
