Morristown Trio Sign Letters of Intent For Division-I Schools

Michael Palestri, Jake Fallon and Brian Begley all to play college sports after graduation this year.

A virtual lifetime of sacrifice, pain and promise culminated in a few pen strokes on Monday as a trio of Morristown seniors signed letters of intent to play at Division-I schools next year.

Michael Palestri and Jake Fallon will play baseball for Lehigh and Hofstra respectively, while Brian Begley will join the Loyola University lacrosse team.

Morristown baseball coach Josh Uruary offered his take on the seniors.

  • Jake Fallon is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached and is the only one I have had start as a freshman. He is a young man who carries himself like a grown adult. He is quiet and soft spoken and very polite. He plays the game with a desire that may not show on his face, but shows in his attitude and work ethic.  He is extremely talented and will be successful at the Division 1 Level. Jake has 76 career hits in the last three seasons. He only needs 24 more to get into the elusive 100 hit club. I believe Jake will only be one of only 10 players to accomplish that feat in Morristown High’s rich baseball history.
  • Mike Palestri has been a starting varsity player for the past two seasons for the Morristown Colonials. Mike is a very talented baseball player, but more importantly he is a great student and young man.  Lehigh is lucky to have him play for them. Mike plays the game hard and with enthusiasm, the same way he handles life and academics.  He is responsible, caring and respectful. Mike is a big reason why we made it to the quarterfinals in the Morris County tournament last season and the semifinals of the state tournament two seasons ago.  If Mike plays every game like he should this season he will have played 75 career games at Morristown High School, which is a huge accomplishment.
Lacrosse coach Jeff Bigas weighed in on Begley.
  • Brian Begley has been on the first midfield line for every game of his high school career. He will leave Morristown as one of the leaders in career scoring. What makes Brian such a great lacrosse player is his ability to work hard every day. Whether he is doing a drill in practice or playing in a state championship game, he is going 100 percent. This makes him and his teammates better every day.
