Auditions for Brightest Star Performing Arts School

Tryouts will be held at Delbarton for a summer musical theater workshop.

The Brightest Star School of Performing Arts will hold auditions on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Fine Arts Center at for a summer program starting on Monday.

The auditions, open to kids entering grades six through 12, will be for a merit-based full tuition scholarship to Session II of its Summer Musical Theatre Workshop. The program will run from July 16 to August 3.

The candidates planning to audition are asked to bring a recent photo, and to prepare a 30-second monologue and 16 bars of a show tune.

Candidates are also asked to be prepared to dance a short combination which will be taught that morning.

The workshop is a three-week program designed to teach kids and teens about the musical theatre genre. Students can only attend by audition only, and will receive daily classes in voice, acting, and dance, as well as lessons in technical theatre, character development, costuming, and story writing.

At the end of the program, each student will perform in a cabaret and the final Broadway-title production for a public audience. Previous experience is not required.
