Morris Plains Farmers Market Returns for 11th Season

Vendors offering fresh fruit and vegetables from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

After hibernating all winter, the Morris Plains Farmers Market is returning for its 11th year at The Merchant Block of Morris Plains next to the Model Railroad Club Building.

On Saturday, the Farmers Market will open officially for the season from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will continue every Saturday through Oct. 12. 

  • Ort Farms returns, bringing fruits and vegetables, sweet corn, honey, flowers, jellies, jams and preserves. 
  • Hoboken Farms will feature frozen meat and fish, fresh artisan breads, olive pockets croissants, scones, tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese and frozen chicken pot pies. 
  • Mara's Country Desserts will have fresh fruit pies, key lime pie, carrot cake, cookies and quiches. 
  • Also returning, Pickles, Olives, Etc with many varieties of pickles, pickled vegetables, olives, olive oil and stuffed grape leaves. 
  • Krakus Deli has the freshly prepared stuffed cabbage, pierogi, cabbage soup, cookies, sausages, kielbasa.      

“Later in the season, we hope they will grill the kielbasa right at the market,” said Sue McCluskey, Market Manager.

Sutton Family Farm has a variety of raw milk and whole milk cheeses, including cheddar, smoked cheddar, gouda, parmesan, bacon horseradish, pepper jack and occasionally they bring fresh eggs. 

Naiked, Inc. provides natural soaps and body products.

Joining these veterans is a new face this year. Flying Alpaca Farms will offer yarn spun from local alpacas and alpaca wool products.

Here’s a look at upcoming events that will coincide with the Farmers Market this year:

  • July 20 & August 17 - All Seasons Garden Club Bake Sale
  • August 3 - Scout Day
  • August 10 - Youth Craft Day
  • September 14 - Adult Craft Day
  • Sponsor Provident Bank will be at the Market on June 15, July 13, August 17.
  • Also to be announced:  Music by local artists, Free Blood Pressure Screening by Family First Home Care.
