Idlewild Pool Memberships Open

The weather's warming up and those in the area looking for a place to catch some rays and make summer memories can check out the Idlewild Pool on Sylvan Drive in Morris Plains.

Many generations of families have had the pleasure of attending Idlewild Pool. Since the 1930s, this natural spring-fed pool and beautiful shaded surroundings have provided many endless summer memories, said Michelle Breslin, of Idlewild Pool.

Long-time Morris Plains resident Caroline Kolb has had her share of memories.

“As a child and now a mother of four, Idlewild Pool has always provided great memories for my family and I,” said Kolb. “I vividly remember the great parties that took place from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There were potato sack and 3-legged races, volleyball, swimming races and diving competitions, all providing real tangible family memories.Thinking about those memories makes me can’t wait for summer.”

Idelwild Pool has been through many re-iterations over the years. In one of the black and white photos attached to this article shows Walter Carr—a lifelong resident of Morris Plains—as a little boy back when Idlewild Pool was part of the “Exclusive Community” that also included a Country Club in the 1930s.
