Over 200 Attend 10th Annual Food For Thought

Event raised money for the Mental Health Association of Morris County.

The Mental Health Association of Morris County held their 10th Annual Food For Thought fundraiser on Monday, June 4, at the .

According to a statement released from the organization, more than 200 people attended the event, which raised funds for a number of programs to promote mental health awareness and help those in recovery from mental illnesses.

“At the Mental Health Association of Morris County we value the support of our
community leaders and their endorsement of our cause of providing hope and recovery for people with mental illness,” Louis A. Schwarcz, president and CEO of the organization said in the statement.

Former Gov. Richard J. Codey and Morris County Freeholder John J. Murphy were in attendance and made speeches at the fundraiser.

The night was filled with food and wine sampling from 16 vendors, auction activities and music.

Founded in 1953, the MHAMC helps people with mental illnesses achieve recovery and lead productive lives. The organization helps people transition out of psychiatric hospitals and into the community, helps homeless people transition to housing, as well as a number of other initiatives and education and advocacy programs involving mental health issues.
