'God Loves Uganda,' Monday Jazz at the Bickford This Week

Here's what's happening this week.

  • The Gay Activist Alliance in Morris County hosts a screening of Sundance Film Festival-selected documentary "God Loves Uganda," which is described as a powerful exploration of the fundamentalist evangelical campaign to change African culture with values imported from America’s Christian Right. The movie begins Monday at 7 p.m. at 21 Normandy Heights Road in Morris Township.
  • The Chuck Anderson Trio presents an evening of jazz for a Monday night. Immerse yourself in indigo sounds at 8 p.m. at the Bickford Theater at 6 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown.
  • Tuesday is Election Day! This is a big one, folks, a gubernatorial election, and there will be races for the state legislature and local races, along with important ballot questions. Do your duty as a citizen: Get informed and use your voice at the ballot box. Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. And be sure to keep an eye on Patch after the polls close for results.
  • On Wednesday, help save loves at the latest Community Blood Drive at Anytime Fitness in Morris Plains. Donate blood and be entered into sweepstakes to win two Super Bowl Tickets.  Join the world's largest huddle! Call for details or an appointment. 973-998-6300
  • Parent alert: The New Jersey Education Association Teachers' Convention takes place at the end of the week, which means public schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Come out Thursday for a Night of Laughter in Morristown.  The Ivy League of Comedy is clean, smart stand-up comedy performed by America's top comics. The show will feature Shaun Eli, Robin Fox, 
    Clayton Fletcher and Dan Naturman. These comedians have appeared on the Tonight Show, Letterman, Conan, Comedy Central and more. Click here for details. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bickford Theater at 6 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown.
