Ridgedale Avenue Car Wash Expansion on Morris Twp. Agenda

There are plenty of fun events this week locally as well to wrap up the summer.

Summer’s wrapping up and there are a few great events this week.

On Monday at 10 a.m. at the Morrisotwn Jewish Center, there’s a family friendly activity. It’s a free morning of messy fun for young children: sidewalk paint, shaving cream, splatter and more. This event is open to the community.  RSVP to Mia at 973-538-9292 or Visit their website www.mjcby.org 

On Monday, the Morris Township and Morris Plains Boards of Adjustment will meet at 7:30 p.m. at their respective town halls.

At the Morris Township meeting, the board will memorialize several resolutions, including one request to expand and modernize the existing car wash at 160 Ridgedale Avenue.

At the meeting, there will also be a public hearing for a proposal to construct a playground and a ground-lit freestanding sign at 1 Evergreen Place. Morris Plains did not post the agenda for their meeting.

Also on Monday, the Board of Health Public Health Nurse is available at the Community Center on Jim Fear Drive between 1 – 3 p.m. The nurse is available to provide blood pressure screenings, basic health information, referrals to health-related services, and to answer general questions.

On Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Huntington Learning Center, there’s a free SAT testing

Space is limited to the first 20 students only so RSVP soon. The practice test is from 3 – 7 p.m. and then the score results presentation is 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Head over to the Morristown-Morris Township Library on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Alice's Tea Party. Party like Alice in Wonderland. Play some games, eat some treats and make a craft. It’s for ages 5-8 and registration required.

At noon on Wednesday, bring your little one to the gardens of Macculloch Hall at 45 Macculloch Avenue. Lunch With the Librarian will be this Wednesday; bring a sack lunch, a blanket and listen to stories while you eat. For Ages 2 through 6. In case of rain, they will meet inside Macculloch Hall. This program will run from Aug. 1 through Sept. 26

On Thursday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Morristown-Morris Township Library will host Outside Games Inside.

Stop in and play some of your favorite outdoor games inside: Hula Hoops, Hopscotch, Basketball, Golf and more. Sponsored by The Friends of the Library.

The Morris County Library has two Summer Family Films this week. The movies are free and seating is first come first served in the public meeting room. The first is on Monday at 2 p.m. Hotel Transylvania is rated PG and is 91 minutes. 

The second is on Friday at 2 p.m. Cirque du Soleil: world's away is rated PG and is 91 minutes.

The second Community Day Court Tour is this Friday from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Morris County Administration and Records Building. The tour is part of the Community Outreach Program hosted by the Morris/Sussex Vicinage.

The event will focus on communicating the Judiciary’s role in the community. The Office of the Ombudsman will give participants a historical overview of the Morris County Courthouse. Participants will observer a court hearing and learn about the Sheriff’s role within the court. Guest speakers will describe court services such as criminal intake, drug court, probation, special civil, landlord-tenant, and policies and procedures of various court divisions. Seating is limited.
