Officials Reorganize for 2014 Hightlight Week Ahead

Three reorganizations fill out this week in Morris Township and Morris Plains.

Legally obligated to finish their reorganizations before one week after the New Year is up, three governing bodies are meeting this week to get their house in order for 2014.

First up is the Morris School District, who will be holding their meeting on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Learning Center on Hazel Street. They are expected to chose new officers and committee assignments for the calendar year.

Second is the borough of Morris Plains, which on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. is holding its annual town reorganization meeting in the Council Chamber at Borough Hall on Speedwell Avenue.

The public is encouraged to attend and invited to join the Mayor and Council for light refreshments after the meeting.

Finally, right up against the clock for the deadline is Morris Township. As a committee form of government, Morris Township will be choosing both a new mayor and deputy mayor for 2014. Voting will get underway at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at town hall on Woodland Avenue.
