If you break in to my home, you're dead. No reason to break in to anybody's home. If you need helpRead More or anything, knock on the door and I will help you. I'm sure the secret agents will blow you away if you break in at Obama's White House!

All of you would have shot a dead man in the face after the fact? One shot will prove your point,Read More two shots just in case. Three or more? In the face? You're looking to kill and you are a deranged person.

This harridan should have been disbarred, and held for obstruction charges after the Vince FosterRead More affair. She had his office sealed. She broke the law.She did not have the authority to do that. She was a do nothing Senator, and an incompetent, criminally negligent Secretary of State.

Cops got a chance to play with their toys. Relax people. It's not like you had to respondRead More personally. Stop saying it's a waste of money. Then money is absolutely minimal. These guys were not called away from their golf games. I would also like to compliment the responders for not accidentally killing someone. It showed professionalism and did not add to the "trend" of killing "innocent" people; which is becoming an issues to watch. The people incensed over this should focus their anger on plastic shopping bags as many others are doing over at another great Patch piece. Evil lurks at the checkout counters across America!

Coffeenut, sorry to hear about your tickets. You asked if the police officer was serving andRead More protecting by giving you a ticket for having your cellphone in hand, adjusting the volume, and by giving you a ticket for not having your proof of insurance card with you. Firstly, the police officer was serving and protecting all the other drivers on the road as we all know any use of a cell phone while driving is dangerous and illegal. Secondly, the law mandates an insurance ID CARD. I misplaced mine and had a duplicate sent to me one from my ins co. as that is the law. Thirdly, the prosecutor sees all charges prior to court - if it was illegal to give you a ticket, as the prosecutor told you, then that office should have contacted you. I did some research - it was a legal ticket. Thank you because I now know I MUST have an ins ID card. Remember, they didnt make the laws, they are hired to enforce them. I have seen people be verbally abusive to a police officer who was just ordering his lunch at a deli. The crap they have to take daily, just because they wear that uniform, is shameful. Stop blaming every cop because you received tickets.

@Jim: I appreciate your sympathetic response to Mr. Drake's particular situation, butRead More "need" has nothing to do with our inalienable right to carry firearms. Be that as it is, our elected state representatives and officials repeatedly denied Mr. Drake's petition to carry a firearm - even after he was assaulted by criminals intent on robbing him during the conduct of his ATM business. Let's hope that SCOTUS rights our upside down state as we law-abiding citizens can't trust our state govt to do it.

Unfortunately, the constitutional guarantee is often shortstopped by local and state officials.Read More Does anyone reading this remember how, back in the 50s or early 60s, the chief of police in Par-Troy abrogated the Second Amendment by the simple stratagem of refusing to give anyone the APPLICATION form for a permit ?
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Michigan's ban on affirmative action in college admissions.
"The Black Panther of Poetry" April 23, 2014 at 01:58 pm
Fair is Fair!!! Now if we can only get Affirmative Action totally out of such sports as BasketballRead More and Football and the Music industry, to name a few, which African-Americans are by far the most innovative and talented and who very essence has kept it alive so that others could thrive and benefit from. The minorities in these financially lucrative areas of our society is truly and obviously inferior but yet is given a shoe in because there race promotes, finance and overly spectates in these Professions by default in a sense because they have the "wherewithall" to do so because of centuries of discrimination and also present discrimination and Social Stratification.
Jeanne April 23, 2014 at 02:09 pm
Wouldn't the fairest admission to University be judged completely by scholastic ability ? ThatRead More would mean not accepting students because of sex, color, class, ethnicity, or prior connection to the school. The college population might become a little "lopsided," but wouldn't the result be more intelligent young people to go on to graduate school ? America, and the general public would benefit because in our midst would be the best scientists, doctors, instructors, etc. for us to call upon ? Our country would become stronger still, which seems to become more urgent with every passing day.
Kevin April 23, 2014 at 02:24 pm

Dickie also can't stand not seeing his name in the paper once a week, so he'll be "for" orRead More "against" something just for the sake of issuing a press release. Sending out a camera crew to interview him just enables him further. Forty years and counting. He's the poster child for Term Limits.

the only difference I see between Codey and Christie is that one is wearing an orange cone and theRead More other one is still renting them out at will - regardless, the longer Julie Herrman remains at Rutgers, the longer Rutgers's integrity is going to be under a public cloud
Clyde Z April 23, 2014 at 07:59 am
her hiring was a joke, I mean they said they did a background check: must not have used GoogleRead More search because they've listed her troubles before her hire at Rutgers. Not to mention that she "lied" on her application. I've had co-workers fired after a month, months and in another case years after their hire due to lies on their application. Hermann's lies could/should have been cought by simple 10th grade investigation
Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

Stating that the history books are anti US and pro global without any proof is very misleading. WhenRead More I was going to school we had classes about world history and separate classes about US history. So of course some textbooks about the history of the world might not mention the United States. It didn't exist yet.

Comments like "back when I was in school" are completely laughable. I don't brag aboutRead More beating my kid in a foot race because I'm faster then he is. So why should me being able to solve a math problem faster then him mean that the new way doesn't work? I've been using math for decades and he'll be just beginning to learn it. Of course I'm going to know the answer before him. Also, what's wrong with setting higher standards for our kids? When I was in school my "reading and basic learning level" was always a grade or two above my actual grade level. It's easier for them to learn new things when they are younger then it is when they're older.

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! At least they are bi-partisan. An inappropriate Democratic role model last year and an inappropriateRead More Republican one this year. I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! As far as the kid being a runaway..maybe he does face some serious abuse issues at home. He's damn lucky to be alive. But, I raised three boys, and a 16 year old boy can runaway for any collage of reasons. My kids never ran away but, I'm wondering if the fact that the plane was going to HAWAII has anything to do with it. It sounds a little compulsive to me. CPA need good follow up on this.
