This story will be updated throughout the day: Local officials and former colleagues expressed shock Tuesday morning after learning Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce (R-Parsippany) collapsed and died suddenly late Monday night at the Statehouse. I'm sure his heart was in the right place all the time for the county here. Im sure he'll be missed." As a result of DeCroce's death, Gov. Chris Christie will postpone his State of the State address, originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. He is expected to deliver a eulogy to DeCroce instead. Patch will stream Christie's remarks live at 1 p.m…

Wendy Keil was a true fighter. She might not have worked in a ring or collected multi-million dollar purses, but the mother of four was every bit as courageous and determined as an elite professional athlete. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, Keil persevered and managed to send it into remission. Three years later, the Morris Township resident was given a second unfortunate diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Despite a valiant battle against a disease that usually takes five to seven months to claim its opponent, Keil managed to surpass expectations. Local legend died on Jan. 5.
A much-loved football coach who graduated from Morristown High School and later taught at Morristown-Beard (then called Morristown Prep) before a stellar career at Boonton High School died earlier this month at the age of 83. Joe Molitoris, known to students as "Mister Mol" or "Coach Mol," is best remembered by some for a remarkable undefeated season that led to a state football championship for Boonton in 1968. To others, he was the ultimate mentor. Photographer Warren Westura, whose work is seen frequently on this site, is among the latter group. "He was my gym teacher in freshman and senior years," Westura said. "He was almost like an optical illusion. The guy was probably 5-foot 4-inches but you never saw that. I was pushing 6-foot by …

Alex was the most powerful Republican in NJ. Through joint efforts a second lane fom route 287 south to route 24 east opened below cost and ahead of schedule. As of today I'm pursuing passage of A-4287, and I'll be fighting for other progressive legislation. Alex made compromise a reality, we"ll all miss him.   more ›
