Sandy Relief Tuneful Proposition for Local Musician

For Morris Plains' Farewell Luna—aka musician Jared Wohl—the superstorm was personal, and so is his contribution toward rebuilding New Jersey.

Parsippany's Jared Wohl was rocked by the devastation wrought by Superstorm Sandy last October. "This was the first natural disaster that really affected me personally," said the Morris Plains neighborhood resident, who is the lone member of musical project Farewell Luna. "I had plans to travel to Las Vegas to record my latest single, 'Momentary Angel' along with some of my other songs, and it just so happened to be shortly after Sandy had occurred. I couldn't have imagined the destruction that the disaster had caused. "It really hit close to home—no pun intended," he said. Wohl said he wanted to do something to help the relief effort and he decided to use his art to make a difference. "I created my solo music project, Farewell Luna in …

Morristown Man 'Wants to Be a Millionaire,' Ends with $25K

Local engineer made it to the $100,000 question on the TV game show.

A Morristown mechanical engineer didn't quite become a millionaire, but his appearance on a nationally televised game show did net him $25,000. Jon Papp appeared as a contestant on Friday's episode of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” which was scheduled to air at 12:30 p.m. on WABC-TV. Because of a weather broadcast that interrupted regular programming, the episode was instead planned to air at 1:35 a.m. Saturday. Papp, 24, was described as a Michigan native and former lifeguard who runs a swing dancing club in his spare time (he even danced with host Meredith Vieira on the show). He said that if he won big on "Millionaire," he would pay off his student loans and get a Ph.D. in robotics. In the game, in which players answer a list of …

Arts Council Celebrates 40 Years With New Name

MorrisArts kicking off celebration of four decades.

Established by the Junior League of Morristown’s Arts Steering Committee in response to a scarcity of arts organizations and …

And the Newton Theatre will also be hosting a true Jersey legend when Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes perform there. You can even see a Klezmer concert at the Bickford Theatre. There are also plenty of shows finishing up their runs, such as "Henry IV, Part One" at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, "The Music Man" at the Villagers and "Our Town" at Somerset Valley Players.
