VIDEO: The Occupy Bank of America Blues

Tom Bias, of Sparta, provided musical accompaniment to Wednesday's demonstration in Morristown.

On Wednesday, in addition to the 18 to 20 people who stood outside the South Street branch of Bank of America for an Occupy Wall Street-style protest, there was some music accompaniment courtesy Tom Bias, of Sparta. "The Golden Bull" was written, Bias said, in part as a response to the potential foreclosure of the house he has lived in for almost 34 years.

Protesters Occupy Bank of America in Morristown

Nearly two dozen demonstrators camped out in front of the South Street branch for a couple hours on Wednesday.

It wasn't a force the size of some of those crowds in New York City. But, then again, the group of 20 or so demonstrators weren't occupying Wall Street on Wednesday but, rather, a branch of Bank of America in Morristown. The demonstration, organized by members of the small Occupy Morristown group and Move-On.org, was part of a larger wave of protests planned throughout the day nationwide, as Bank of America held its shareholder meetings in Charlotte, N.C. "We want to educate, we don't want to cause trouble," said Lew Schwartz, organizer of the Morristown event outside Bank of America's South Street location.  That education, according to organizers, includes letting people know about what they call "socially and environmentally destructive…

Second, Bank of American did not agree to pay that $25 million dollar fine for their mishandling of mortgages because they were innocent. Third, although I was not at the protest, I had been a customer since they came to Morristown but had already …   more ›

Bank of America to be 'Occupy'ed Wednesday

National protest to include Morristown branch at 188 South St.

Is Bank of America bad for America? An organization called The 99 Power seems to think so, which is why they held a large protest in New York outside the Bank of America tower Tuesday. Locally, those claiming unfair practices by the banking giant here will descend upon one of their Morristown branches, 188 South St., at 2 p.m. Wednesday. It's just one of over 200 nationwide protests scheduled on the day of Bank of America's annual shareholder meeting in Charlotte, N.C., according to Morristown protest organiers Move-On.org and Occupy Morristown. "It's an educational thing," said Lew Schwartz, organizer for the Morristown Bank of America demonstration. "Their management is not starving, but their customers are and they don't seem to care, …

Man described as 55 to 65 years old, with white hair, clean shaven.

Police are looking for the 55-to-65-year-old man they say tried to rob Bank of America on South Street in Morristown Saturday. It did not specify whether the man made any threats or had any interaction with bank customers.
