Morris Township resident returned home to find jewelry also missing.

A Pine Tree Lane residence in Morris Township was found to be burglarized Thursday, with bedrooms ransacked and cash and jewelry stolen, according to Morris Township police. Police Chief John McGuinness said the homeowner returned to the house just after 6:30 to find a rear window pried open where it appeared as though a person or people had entered (the window is low to the ground). Burglary Ring Likely Culprits of Morris Break-In, Cops Say

James Street burglary fits pattern of known Bergen County crew, police said.

A James Street residential burglary was likely the work of a known Bergen County crew that has hit homes across North Jersey for years, Morris Township Police said. According to Capt. Rich Ferrone, the residents were away when the home was broken into sometime between last Friday night and Wednesday afternoon. The incident was discovered when a neighbor went to water the flowers at the home on Wednesday, Ferrone said. It appeared the front door had been kicked in, Ferrone said. The door jam was broken and the wood frame that held the lock was found on the front steps, Ferrone said. The master bedroom was found ransacked, but it was not immediately known if anything was missing since the homeowners were still away, Ferrone said. The break-…

Cops: Residents Foil Man's Break-In Attempt

The following arrest information was supplied by the Morristown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police say an 18-year-old Mendham Borough resident tried to break into a Gregory Terrace home. But, a few observant residents and their call to the cops stopped that from happening. David Domiter, of Emery Avenue in Mendham, was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief June 17 shortly before 2 a.m. Officer Eddy Pichardo responded to the scene, where witnesses told him they had seen a man—described as white, 5-foot-10, about 130 pounds with long blonde hair, wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a black laptop bag—climbing a steel ladder in order to try and get inside the residence, according to Pichardo's report. When the witness asked the man what he was doing, he responded, "nothing, …

"They're happening all over, Ketch Road, Canfield Road–which is on the other side of the Township–and then Western Avenue in the middle," Captain Rich Ferrone of the Morris Township Police Department said. Ferrone said the items stolen were "the usual: GPS units, iPods, wallets, cash."  Similar incidents have occurred repeatedly over the last few months in Morris Township and the surrounding communities. In mid-May, Patch reported on six thefts involving unlocked vehicles that occurred over a two-day period in the township. Among the items reported …
