Morris Plains: The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) has announced viaTwitter than most of the recycling collection scheduled for Tue., Jan. 18 in Morris Plains has been completed. Crews will go out again on Wed., Jan. 19 to pick up recyclables in the areas of the borough not covered Tuesday. Morris Township: Thomas J. Eschmann, Superintendent of the Morris Township Department of Public Works, has released a service cancellation alert for Tues., Jan. 18. Due to weather conditions, the following services have been affected: Eschmann said, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Drivers planned to work through Sunday night.
On Sunday afternoon, Dan Webber of the Morris Township Department of Public Works told Patch drivers expect to pull an all-nighter to stay ahead of the snow and keep the roads safe. See the video connected to this story for more from Weber. A DPW worker reached Sunday night said he wasn't aware of any downed wires or other roadway complications at the time. New Jersey declared a state of emergency Sunday night. No travel restrictions were put into place, but officials recommended staying off the road. Because of the inclement weather, Morris County government offices will open at 10 a.m. Monday. State offices were also slated to open two hours late Monday morning.
