Accused Murderer Takes Plea, Reduced Charge

Jade Ransom, formerly of Morris Township, was accused of shooting and killing a 23-year-old Dover man in 2008.

A former Morris Township resident accused of gunning down a man in Dover in 2008 and facing a potential life sentence took a plea deal Thursday that could have her out on the street in only a few years, reports NJ.com. Jade Ransom, now 25 and formerly of Morris Township, had been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Jesus Dimas Rodriguez-Marques, of Dover. Her plea for a reduced charge of reckless manslaughter came as jury selection for her trial entered its second week, according to the article. Under the plea agreement, Ransom would serve a 10-year prison sentence and be required to serve 85 percent of that before parole eligibility kicks in, according to the article.
