A Morristown man believed to be involved in two accidents on Interstate 78 was arrested for drunk driving Wednesday, Chatham Borough Police said. Christopher Grandados, 25, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and reckless driving. Police also determined Granados "was involved in at least two motor vehicle accidents" on I-78 before he entered Chatham, according to a statement released by Kevin O'Shea, of the Chatham Borough Police Department. Man said he had come from a Morristown bar, according to police.
A Morris Township man was allegedly drunk when he smashed his SUV into a tree at the intersection of Sussex Avenue and Roberts Street on Saturday night, police said. Michael Bedrick, of Starlight Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane after receiving a report of the accident at about 6 p.m. According to a report filed by officer Steven Crump, he responded to the scene and found a sport utility vehicle with extensive front-end damage from hitting a tree. A drunk driver carrying drugs and a knife smashed a rental car into a tree early Saturday, according to Morris Township police. At about 3:08 a.m., officers responded to Sussex Avenue near Bradford Court for a report of a crash, and found a blue 2008 Chevrolet Impala had crashed head-on into a tree, police said. The driver's airbag had deployed, but he was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. He had non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver, Gary Smith Jr. of Randolph, was drunk, had an open container of beer, had a knife, and had a controlled dangerous substance in the car, police said.
