A weak storm front expected to bring up to two inches of snow starting Monday night.
Cross your fingers. As of Sunday, weather projections indicate a storm front entering the region that could give us—gasp—a white Christmas. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with a temperature ultimately reaching 38 degrees. Stephen Pellettiere, with Ion Weather based at the Morristown Municipal Airport, said current projections appear to have the small storm begin producing at about 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, tapering off at the latest 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. That's a lot of toys. The Morris County Park Police have again led an effort seeking donations and distributing toys for children of all ages in need for the holidays. Once known as “Saddle Up for Toys,” a program began in 2002 by Sgt. Timmy Albine has grown into a massive annual donation program. This season, in memory of Albine, the toy drive has been renamed the “Timmy Albine Memorial Toy Drive." Now, in its 10th year, over 4,200 toys were collected and are now being distributed throughout Morris County and areas of New Jersey hit by Hurricane Sandy. With the assistance of Morris County residents, Morris County Park Commission, the Republican National Headquarters, Morristown-Beard School, and Exxon’s Retired Executives program, the …

With day care center and youth programs in "dire jeopardy," Salvation Army’s "Morristown Corps.," located on Spring Street, is turning to neighbors for help. "As our nation continues to endure deep economic impacts, more and more families are seeking extraordinary assistance," said Morristown Corp. spokesperson Jasmin Sacarello in a press release. The Salvation Army has a responsibility, she said, to continue providing resources which include childcare programs (for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children); on-site food pantries; emergency homeless shelters, for women and children; shelters for men; and shelters for families. Major Walter L. Droz noted in the press release, "that with the advent of natural disasters and the …

This is he 22nd year Morristown’s Assumption School fourth-grade students have handcrafted period-style ornaments for the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum Drawing Room Christmas tree under the direction of their art teacher, Barbara Silverstein. A sizeable collection of cornucopias, cotton Santas, tussie mussies, fans and scrap tinsel ornaments are carefully stored in the attic from year to year, donated over two decades by the children who made them. This year students worked with quality reproduction die-cut images or “scraps” mounted onto gold foil-covered cardboard bells and silver paper circles, fringed for textural dimension. Popular during the mid 1800’s through the first quarter of the 20th century, brightly colored die-cuts were …

Many came out to the Green early Sunday evening for his annual descent from the roof of Century 21.
It didn't seem to matter that organizer Morristown Partnership moved the annual lighting of the Morristown Green and arrival of Santa to Sunday instead of Friday. In fact, it was a very-packed Green full of excited holiday revelers—both young and young at heart—who welcomed Old Saint Nick.

About one million New Jersey residents and 43.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving weekend, AAA New Jersey predicts. The impact of Hurricane Sandy is still uncertain, especially in the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions. Cathleen Lewis, the director of Public Affairs for AAA New Jersey, said, "While many residents [of New Jersey] may cancel travel plans, many others may change travel plans to accommodate or assist displaced friends and family." How will we get there? Sandy may influence how New Jerseyans will travel this holiday. As Lewis said, "Rental cars have become a coveted commodity by those who lost vehicles in the storm.” AAA recommends confirming any existing reservations for a rental car with the …
