The Fifteenth annual Hounds and Harriers Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at and will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the South Street Recreation Area of Loantaka Park in Morris Township. The run for man and his best friend benefits St. Hubert's. Barbara Rushman, who started the event, said it has raised more than $102,000 for the Madison-based animal welfare center over the years. "I'm just a runner that runs with her dog and got annoyed when race directors wouldn't allow my dog in their race," Rushman said. "So I set out to prove it could be done, and it could be done safely. Pleasant weather draws cyclists, picnickers and runners to the park.
There was a lot of activity at Loantaka Brook Reservation in Morris Township on the Fourth of July. Dog-walkers, runners, cyclists and picnickers could be found enjoying the sunny day. Photographer Warren Westura was there snapping photos.

With a little preparation and patience, even amateur photographers can capture wonderful images of nature at Loantaka Brook Reservation in Morris Township. So says Dave Blinder of Denville, a professional photographer who has captured some stunning images at the park. Granted, Blinder has a lens the size of a bazooka, which allows him to take detailed photos from long distances. Still, he says, any nature-lover with a camera can improve his or her chances of getting "the shot." Start by dressing in muted colors. "You don't have to go out there in full camouflage, but don't wear day-glo colors," Blinder advised.
