Morristown Teen Admits Lying to Police in Lennon Baldwin Case, Reports Say

Prosecutors will recommend a sentence of three years probation when Michael Conway is sentenced next month, according to news reports.

A Morristown teen who was charged in April with lying to police about whether he was present during the robbery of a Morris Township teen who later committed suicide pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of obstruction of justice, according to a Daily Record report. Michael Conway, 19, who was facing an unrelated charge of possession of a BB gun for a separate incident in August, also pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of harassment in connection with that arrest, the report says. The prosecution is recommending a sentence of three years probation when Conway is sentenced March 15, the report says. The man accused of lying about his knowledge regarding the robbery of 15-year-old Lennon Baldwin in the Century 21 parking lot—which preceded Baldwin's suicide at his Morris Township home later that month—was among three Morristown men indicted Tuesday on a weapons charge, according to a Star-Ledger article. Michael Conway, 19, along with Marcus Liles, 20, and J’Money Wright-Baxter, 18, were indicted on one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the article. Conway, Baxter, Liles and an unnamed juvenile were charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia in August when a BB gun was found in the backseat of Conway's car. The Pre-Trial Intervention program requested by attorneys for Michael Conway, who is accused of trying to cover up his involvement in a bullying incident of a Morristown High School freshman who later killed himself, is in jeopardy due to an arrest over the weekend in Morristown. Conway, 19, appeared before Morris County Superior Court Judge Salem Ahto Monday but his attorney, Edmund DeNoia, told the court his client had been arrested Saturday for an unrelated incident involving a BB gun and drug paraphernalia found in his car. Michael Conway, the only adult charged in bullying incidents some believe led to the suicide of the Morris Township teen is scheduled to go before the judge Monday morning at the Morris County Courthouse. The trial was originally set for July 31 but was rescheduled. Michael Conway, the only adult charged in bullying incidents some believe led to the suicide of the Morris Township teen was scheduled to go before the judge Tuesday at the Morris County Courthouse. Trial Starts for Juveniles Accused of Bullying Lennon Baldwin

Non-juried family court proceedings will be held Tuesday morning.

The trial for two juveniles accused of being involved in a series of bullying incidents against Lennon Baldwin prior to the 15-year-old's suicide in March are due in family court on Tuesday. The trial, which will not go before a jury, will be presided over by Judge Michael Paul Wright in the Family Division of Superior Court in Morristown. Although one of the juveniles charged has since turned 18, both remain unnamed and are being tried as juveniles because they were both 17 at the time of the incidents. Baldwin, a Morris Township resident and freshman at the high school, was caught on camera being assaulted at Morristown High School in early March and then told by the juveniles to tell authorities it had been a prank. Michael Conway, the 19-year-old adult charged, along with two juveniles in a series of incidents weeks before the suicide of Lennon Baldwin, appeared in court Monday afternoon, according to NJ.com. Conway "should not be used as the poster boy for bullying," said his attorney, Edmund DiNoia at the hearing, according to NJ.com. "Anything he is charged with is not related to any violence or action" against Baldwin, 15, the Morristown High School freshman who was found dead in his home March 28.
