Morris County Women's Republican Club hosting annual forum on May 21 in Morristown.
Looking for answers from Republican Morris County Freeholder and County Clerk candidates before heading to the polls? Now you’ll have a chance to lob your queries at all of them in one place. On Tuesday, May 21, the Morris County Women’s Republican Club, along with the Morris Township Republican County Committee, will join forces to host a night with all the candidates. “The public will have the opportunity to write questions on postcards that will be asked by the moderator to all candidates in the appropriate category,” the Women’s Republican Club said in a statement. The event will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Morristown at 39 Maple Avenue at 7 p.m. Candidates will make themselves available after the forum as well, the statement said.

Towaco resident says he may run unopposed at Republican County Committee convention.
William "Hank" Lyon said Wednesday he has heard there's a good chance he will be running unopposed when the Republican County Committee votes to fill a vacant seat previously held by Margaret Nordstrom, though he's still waiting to hear officially whether Nordstrom will be vying to return to the seat after an appellate court removed her from the position. Nordstrom, a Long Valley resident, has cleaned out her office in the county administrative building and told the Observer-Tribune it's time to move on, according to the newspaper. But Lyon, a Towaco resident, said he still hasn't heard from Nordstrom if she is bowing out of the contest. She previously said she would try to be returned to the seat at the convention. Those who worked with Carol Murphy, the former Morris County freeholder, District 26 assemblywoman and Board of Public Utilities commissioner who died Wednesday at the age of 78, said they will miss her powerful presence, hearty laugh and engaging stories. Murphy was a "leader among leaders," a champion for people in need and a valuable mentor who was a public servant for more than two decades, friends said. Dick Stern, who served with Murphy on the Montville Township Planning Board and Township Committee, where she first served as a public official and became the first woman to serve on the town governing body, said she kept the board in line.
