Former 'Idol' Contestant Tries a New Tune With Dance School

Morris Plains resident opens competition dance school in Parsippany.

Tiffany Rios took the nation by storm when she unleashed her considerable pipes as a contestant on the television singing competition "American Idol" in 2011, earning a yellow ticket that took her to Hollywood and the semifinals. Two years later, the Morris Plains resident hopes to do the same for those in and around Parsippany with the opening of her brand new dance school, Diamond Dance. Rios, 24, calls her tiny studio at 981 Tabor Road "the studio that shines," and she's right. While there was no glitter in sight during Patch's visit, the school seemed to sparkle. 'American Idol's' Tiffany Rios to Host Fundraiser for Project Ladybug

Singer to raise money for charity connected with 'Housewives.'

There's more to Tiffany Rios than cleavage and stars. For the past two years, the "American Idol'' contestant has been working with Project Ladybug—the charity founded by Dina Manzo of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey''—to raise money for seriously ill children. Rios, who calls herself a Morris Plains resident because that is her accurate mailing address, though her home is actually in Parsippany, has scheduled a "meet and greet'' at Tabor Pizza on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.. She'll sign autographs, pose for pictures and chat with fans. "I was always involved with charities, ever since fifth grade,'' said Rios, who made an impact during "Idol's'' New Jersey auditions when she sang in a bikini with large cut-out stars over her breasts. …

Out and About: Another 'Idol' Hopeful in our Midst

Days after Tiffany Rios, a dance instructor from Parsippany (though she has a Morris Plains mailing address), made a splash on American Idol, we found another contender in our midst. The Folk Project’s Minstrel Concert Series at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship was headlined by Caleb Hawley, who advanced to the second round on the American Idol season opener.
