Friday is opening night for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
More than 70 local youth performers will be performing in MPAC's first original production: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Andrew Lloyd Webber's uplifting musical with lyrics by Tim Rice. From ages 7-19, the youths have been rehearsing for weeks at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, preparing for opening night this Friday. Nope. This show has everything including the kitchen sink. Stomp the percussive dance sensation that uses unconventional instruments, marches onto the stage at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown Friday and Saturday evening. Showtime is 8 p.m. and cost is $47-$77. Nov. 1 concert axed because of Hurricane Sandy; makeup date being considered.
The fountain on the Green isn't the only one that's been turned off. Fountains of Wayne, which was scheduled to perform Thursday at Mayo Performing Arts Center, has cancelled their appearance here "due to travelling conditions following Hurricane Sandy," MPAC General Manager Ed Kirchdoerffer said in a press release Wednesday. "We are in the process of rescheduling for a future date and will be sending information once the new performance date has been decided," he said, adding that ticketholders are being asked to hold on to their tickets "until we have information about the rescheduled date. "We are trying to contact ticket buyers, but please help spread the word as many may not have power," Kirchdoerffer said.

A supertramp is heading to Morristown next month. Roger Hodgson, the voice of Supertramp, will perform his greatest hits from the band and his solo catalog at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 8. The show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $57 to $97. "Universally recognized as one of the most gifted composers and songwriters to have ever put pen to paper, Hodgson helped define a generation of progressive rock," according to a press release Tuesday from MPAC. "Founding Supertramp in 1969, Hodgson's dulcet tones and beautifully-crafted lyrics helped the band sell in excess of 60 million albums, transforming them into a worldwide phenomenon."
