Husband's Car Accident Injury Inspires New Morris Plains Business

Elements Therapeutic Massage studio opened in July and an official grand opening is coming soon.

Nina Amidon left her 12-year involvement with the corporate world and on July 13, she opened Elements Therapeutic Massage studio in Morris Plains.

Her husband’s journey inspired her new business venture.

“Three years ago, my husband got in bad car accident,” she said. “He had chronic back pain.”

Her husband, Luke, went through surgery, multiple treatment plans, but the constant pain persisted.

“Then I got him a gift card for Father’s Day for a massage,” said Amidon. “It was great for his back and he started going regularly. I couldn’t believe the benefits, so I looked at massage franchises to open one of my own.”

They said that the Elements franchise was founded on the healing benefits of massage, and “we’re looking forward to making a positive impact on our clients’ lives.”

“I liked Elements because they focus on each individual’s well being. We’re different from other spa and massage places because We listen and match you with the right therapist,” said Amidon. “We’re really excited and want to get our brand out there and show how we can help someone become a better, healthier person.”

They decided that opening their own massage studio would be the best way to share Luke’s success with others in need of the same relief.

“Therapeutic massage helps with your well being and it’s not about being a luxury; it’s about your health. It’s like a gym membership. You go to get healthy and better yourself.”

Amidon’s studio brings the number of Elements Therapeutic Massage franchises in New Jersey up to 12. There are 5-10 more in the near future for New Jersey, she said.

“I am planning on opening two more locations, one in Morristown and one in the Succasunna area, in a couple of years.”

Although Amidon spent 12 years in the corporate world working in many fields including internet advertising and a school librarian, she said she always wanted to pursue an entrepreneurial venture and have her own business.

“We plan to have a grand opening in about a month,” she said. “We’re getting a steady stream of customers already.”

The new Morris Plains studio is open seven days a week, welcomes walk-ins and offers a membership program that allows clients to receive regular, discounted massage therapy services throughout each month. For more information, please call 973-993-0990 or visit elementsmassage.com/morrisplains.
